UAB and Jacksonville State Meet Again for a Mid-Week Matchup

BIRMINGHAM – The UAB Blazers (12-27) will travel to Jacksonville, Ala. for their second mid-week matchup against the Jacksonville State Gamecocks (18-20). First pitch is set for 6 P.M. on ESPN+.

The teams met for the first game of the home-and-home series on March 28 at Young Memorial Field when UAB held a 6-3 win over Jacksonville State. The Blazers are 4-5 in mid-week games while the Gamecocks are 1-7, but both teams have secured wins over SEC opponents – Jacksonville State beat Ole Miss while UAB has defeated both Auburn and Alabama.

The Blazers will hit the road again to start this week after returning from Charlotte, N.C. where UAB lost all three games of the series against the 49ers.
Offensively for the Blazers, Logan Braunschweig leads the team in batting average (.348), hits (39), slugging percentage (.429) and on-base percentage (.448) while Tyler Waugh falls closely behind in batting average (.300) and hits (36). Breaking the offense down, John Marc Mullins leads the team with most runs (24), Henry Hunter has the most triples (3) and Brayton Brown sits with the most doubles (9), home runs (5) and RBI (24).
Braxton Shelton debuted on the mound against Jacksonville State back on March 28 and since then has started every mid-week game and has earned a 1-2 record with a 5.20 ERA.
JACKSONVILLE STATE GAMECOCKS
The Gamecocks enter the week after dropping their weekend series against Florida Gulf Coast University, but Jacksonville State dominated FGCU on Saturday after putting up 14 runs on 14 hits through eight innings to even out the series.
Javon Hernandez (.429), Derrick Jackson (.357) and Bear Madliak (.348) hold the top three batting averages for the Gamecocks. Hernandez sits with the most hits (67), runs (40) and triples (3). Five players sit with a .400 or better on-base percentage while seven hold a .430 plus slugging percentage. T.J. Reeves sits with the most RBIs (40) for Jacksonville State.
Jacksonville State's starting pitcher is to be determined at this time.
