UAB Falls to Charlotte on Friday Night

CHARLOTTE, N.C. – The UAB Blazers (12-25, 4-12) fell to the Charlotte 49ers (20-17, 10-5) by a score of 4-1 on Friday, April 21.
Charlotte reached home plate first during their first at bat before extending the lead in the sixth inning by three runs. Gavin Lewis Jr. ended the 49ers' no hitter in the sixth after he doubled down the left field line. It was not until the eighth when the Blazers reached base again after back-to-back singles from Logan Braunschweig and Isaiah Mack, but no runs were scored. The Blazers scored their first run in the ninth after Brayton Brown doubled to left field which scored Tyler Waugh who drew a walk.
Brooks Walton (2-4) was given the loss after he threw five and two thirds innings and allowed four runs – earned – on 11 hits with one walk and six strikeouts. Leo Harris relieved Walton in the sixth inning and threw two and one third innings and allowed no runs on one hit and four walks.
