UAB Baseball Hits the Road to Compete in Mike Sansing Classic

BIRMINGHAM – The UAB Blazers (4-8) travel to Kennesaw, Ga. to play in the Inaugural Mike Sansing Classic hosted by Kennesaw State University. The tournament begins on Fri., March 10 when UAB will face off against Michigan. First pitch is scheduled for 12 P.M. CST.
UAB is coming off a 4-1 loss against Auburn in a mid-week matchup where two Blazers recorded defensive career highs – Gavin Lewis Jr. and Brandon Willoughby. Offensively for the Blazers, Christian Hall leads the team in batting average (.259), hits (12) and RBIs (12) while John Marc Mullin holds the most runs (11), doubles (2) and triples (2).

UAB and Michigan have met once before in program history at the CC Classic in Conway, S.C. in 2012. The Wolverines won the matchup 3-1 to make their overall record 1-0 against the Blazers.
FAMILIAR FACES
This will be the 22nd matchup between UAB and KSU where KSU leads the overall series 13-9. The first meeting between the two programs, the Owls defeated the Blazers 8-6 on March 29, 2006. In the most recent meeting, UAB and KSU played a series in Birmingham in March 2021. The Blazers won game three 8-7, but ultimately dropped the series.
