UAB Baseball Drops Mid-Week Game to Auburn

AUBURN, Ala. – The UAB Blazers (4-8) dropped Tuesday's mid-week game, 4-1, to Auburn (10-1-1) on March 6.

The game stood scoreless through three innings before Auburn put two runs on the board after Bryson Ware hit a two-run home run in the fourth. The Tigers collected single runs in the fifth and sixth before the Blazers put their only run on the board in the ninth.

Defense was the name off the game on both sides off the ball. Two Blazers collected career highs including Gavin Lewis Jr. and Brandon Willoughby. Lewis Jr. recorded six assist while Willoughby picked up 12 putouts.

UAB sent eight pitchers to the mound during nine innings. Leo Harris, who started on the mound, John Luke Marlin and Christian Clack threw during the first three innings for a combined one hit on zero runs. Tyler Haines (0-2) was given the loss after allowing two runs – one earned – on one hit. Colin Daniel threw one inning and allowed one earned run on one hit with one strikeout. Thomas Ballard also threw an inning and allowed one run - earned – on one hit. JC Sewell and Braxton Shelton rounded out the game for the Blazers throwing a combined shutout and two strikeouts.

Christian Hall, Blayze Berry and Tyler Waugh all collected the Blazers' three hits which were all singles. Hall drove in John Marc Mullins in the ninth for an RBI.

UP NEXT

UAB will travel to Atlanta, Ga. for the Mike Sansing Classic where the Blazers will play Michigan and Kennesaw State. Game one versus Michigan is set for Fri., March 10 at 12 P.M.
