UAB Baseball Travels to Tuscaloosa for First Matchup Against No. 25 Alabama

BIRMINGHAM – UAB (5-14, 0-3 C-USA) will travel to meet in-state foes No. 25 Alabama (17-4, 1-2 SEC) for a mid-week matchup on Tuesday, March 21. This is the first of two meetings between the programs this year. First pitch is set for 6 P.M. at Sewell-Thomas Stadium and will be broadcasted on SEC Network+.

UAB BLAZERS
UAB is coming off its first Conference USA series where the Blazers went 0-3 on the weekend after being swept by Rice at Young Memorial Field. UAB currently sits at 1-3 in mid-week games with the most recent 9-5 win over Samford on Tuesday, March 14.
Starting on the mound for the Blazers will be JC Sewell (0-1). This will be Sewell's second start of the season since his last at Vanderbilt where he threw two complete innings and allowed one run on three hits.

Alabama will be returning home after opening SEC play down in Gainesville, Fla. where the Crimson Tide took 1-2 games in the series. Alabama sits 3-2 in series wins and undefeated in mid-week matchups.
The Crimson Tide will be starting Jacob McNairy (2-1). This will be McNairy's fourth start of the season and has allowed a total of 12 runs – 11 earned – on 16 hits with 32 strikeouts for an ERA of 6.19.

This will be the 83rd meeting between the two programs, dating back to 1980. Since 2001, Alabama leads the overall series 26-15. UAB swept Alabama last season after defeating the Crimson Tide 5-4 at Regions Field on March 23, 2022 and on April 19 at Sewell-Thomas Stadium by a score of 7-6. The win at Regions Field snapped a five-game losing streak against Alabama for the Blazers.
