UAB Baseball Begins Home Schedule with Notre Dame at Young Memorial

BIRMINGHAM – The UAB Blazers (3-5) will welcome Power 5 Notre Dame (3-3) to Young Memorial Field for a three-game series starting Friday, March 3. Game one's first pitch is scheduled for 4 P.M.

The Blazers look to break in their new turf field for the first time this season during the weekend series. UAB is coming off a 7-8 loss to Troy – the third one-run loss this season but the Blazers look forward to another opportunity to win a series.
Heading into game nine, five Blazers have started in every game so far including Darryl Buggs, Ben Abernathy, John Marc Mullins, Christian Hall and Brayton Brown. Buggs will look to extend his five-game hitting streak while leading the team in batting average (.385), and Hall currently leads the team in most at bats (28) which includes a three-run homer from the Jaguar Classic.
On the pitching staff, Blayze Berry, Tyler O'Clair and Jonah Smith have all picked up a win this season. Abernathy, who serves as starting third basemen, has collected two saves for UAB. Defensively, the Blazers have turned five double plays compared to an opponent's two with a fielding percentage off .989.
INVESTIGATING THE FIGHTING IRISH
Notre Dame, who appeared in the 2022 College World Series, is led by first year head coach Shawn Stiffler. The Fighting Irish are only six games in after playing two series against Lipscomb – lost the series 1-2 – and UNC Greensboro where Notre Dame picked up its first series win.
Offensively for Notre Dame, Brooks Coetzee is leading the pack in batting average with .263 which includes 19 at bats, five hits, two runs and three RBIs. In terms of who's on the mound here is the probable rotation for the Fighting Irish:
