UAB Women’s Tennis Falls to UTEP 4-3

HOOVER, Ala. – The UAB women's tennis team dropped its Conference USA opener to UTEP on Sunday afternoon 4-3.
The Blazers (7-8) fell behind when the Miners won the doubles point. UAB dropped Court 2 before Vanessa Mellynchuk and Enya Ratkic were 6-3 winners on Court 3. UTEP stole the point on Court 1, 7-5.
In singles, the Blazers got wins from Mellynchuk on Court 5, Sydney Clarke on Court 3 and Annalisa Smith on Court 4. The decider came down to Adela Wasserbauerova and Carlotta Mencaglia on Court 2. The two split the first two sets before Mencaglia took the decider 7-5.
Up next is the rescheduled match against Jacksonville State on March 29 at 1 PM. The match is schedule to take place at the Hoover Met.
