UAB MBB Falls to FAU in C-USA Title Game

FRISCO, Texas – UAB men's basketball (25-9, 14-6 C-USA) fell in the Conference USA Title game, to top-seeded Florida Atlantic (31-3, 18-2 C-USA) by a score of 78-56. The Blazers shot only .317 (20-63) from the field and could not get going on the offensive side of the floor.
UAB started very slow from the floor, shooting only 29.4 percent (10-34) in the first half and Florida Atlantic took advantage. With UAB leading 12-10 following an Eric Gaines three-point play, FAU went on a 15-2 run to take a 25-14 lead.
The Owls went on another 11-2 run late in the first half to extend their lead to a commanding 19 points. Johnell Davis' layup just before the buzzer put the score at 46-27 at the break.
In the second half, the Blazers tried to get back in the game, but could not cut into the double-digit deficit. UAB cut the lead to 15 points with 8:34 to go after a Jordan Walker jumper, but that was as close as it would get.
Alijah Martin scored 30 points, including 17 in the second half to help the Owls maintain the margin.
