UAB Men’s Golf Ties for 10th at The Hayt

BIRMINGHAM – The UAB men's golf team tied for 10th place in its first spring tournament at The Hayt, hosted by the University of North Florida at Sawgrass Country Club in Ponte Verda Beach, Fla.
Khavish Varadan (75-73-73 = 221, +5) led the Blazers as he tied for 33rd overall. Ethan Hagood (74-73-75 = 222, +6) was one shot behind Varadan and tied for 38th, while Alfie Fox (72-80-71 = 223) and Cole Imig (77-71-75 = 223) both shot +7 and tied for 41st.
Paul Bruce (74-82-75 = 231, +15) rounded out UAB's lineup in a tie for 68th.
No. 2 Vanderbilt won the tournament at -28 overall, and also had the individual winner as Gordon Sargent (-15) won the event by eight strokes.
North Florida (-12), Florida Gulf Coast (+5), Alabama (+6) and Coastal Carolina (+9) rounded out the top five.
The Blazers return to the course on Feb. 27 for the Las Vegas Reflection Bay Invitational.
