UAB Men’s Golf Begins 2023 Play at The Hayt

BIRMINGHAM – The UAB men's golf team opens its championship season this Sunday, Feb. 5 at The Hayt, hosted by the University of North Florida in Ponte Verda Beach, Fla.
The Blazers finished the fall season with an overall record of 33-25-0 and now begin their quest for a third straight berth into the NCAA Tournament. UAB's fall was highlighted by winning the Carolina Cup in early October.
Sawgrass Country Club will be the site of The Hayt, which is a two-day event with 36 holes on Sunday and 18 on Monday. The course is par 72 that plays 6,966 yards.
Along with UAB and North Florida, the field includes No. 2 Vanderbilt, No. 17 Alabama, Arkansas, Chattanooga, Florida Gulf Coast, Furman, Jacksonville State, Louisiana Tech and North Texas.
Khavish Varadan, who currently owns UAB's fourth lowest career stroke average, headlines a lineup which includes seniors Alfie Fox and Ethan Hagood, and sophomores Paul Bruce and Cole Imig.
