Valbak's Perfect Game Lands C-USA Pitcher of the Week Nod

DALLAS – UAB Softball's Olivia Valbak (P/UTL), who finished the weekend on a monumental note at the Green & Gold Classic, was named the C-USA Pitcher of the Week.
Announced by the conference on Monday, the Ashburn, Va. native finished the weekend with a complete game against Butler, the first of her career. Valbak totaled four strikeouts in her shutout win over the Bulldogs, partnered with a batting average of .333.
In the circle, Valbak contributed greatly; but outside of the circle, she was able to lift the Blazers to three wins throughout the weekend. She totaled 19 at bats, with a game-high of .750 against Cleveland State, along with a total of five putouts.
"We couldn't be more proud of Olivia," said head coach AJ Daugherty. "I know that she puts in a lot of extra work as an infielder that also pitches. Really excited to see her recognized for her outstanding accomplishment with the perfect game. She's a great pitcher and an even better teammate."
Valbak and the Blazers return to action on Friday, March 3 to take on the No. 3 Florida Gators in a weekend series. First pitch against UF starts at 6:00pm.
