The Blazers will Face No. 10 Vanderbilt for a Mid-Week Matchup

BIRMINGHAM – The UAB Baseball team (1-2) will travel to Nashville, Tenn. for a mid-week matchup against No. 10 Vanderbilt (2-2) on Feb. 22. First pitch is scheduled for 4:30 P.M. at Hawkins Field and will air on SEC Network+.
The Blazers are coming off a 1-2 weekend at the Jaguar Classic where all three games ended in a one-run score including a 4-3 win over Northwestern State. Vanderbilt's Opening Weekend ended with a 2-1 record after defeating No. 9 Oklahoma State (11-9) and Texas (12-2) and losing against No. 15 TCU.
This will be the first time meeting since 2001 where the teams played home-and-home games. The series is tied at 1-1 with UAB winning the last meeting, 6-1, on March 6, 2001 in Birmingham, Ala. The Commodores beat the Blazers, 4-3, in Nashville, Tenn. on Feb. 21.
John Marc Mullins and Christian Hall are two of the eight players who started in all three games last weekend. Mullins is currently leading the team in batting average (.455) after 11 at bats, three runs, five hits and two RBIs while Hall is second with .385 and 13 at bats, one run, five hits and five RBIs including a three-run home run against South Alabama.
