UAB Softball Drops Second Game to Louisiana Tech

RUSTON- The UAB softball team fell in a close game versus Louisiana Tech this afternoon in Ruston. The Blazers took an early 2-0 lead, but some late offense from the Lady Techsters gave LA Tech the victory.
The Blazers (21-20, 9-7) got off to a quick start, with Bella Wiggins scoring Lauren Brock on a single to left center, and Sierra Frazier getting an RBI single that brought home Wiggins. Louisiana Tech (31-17, 11-6) answered in the bottom of the first, with an RBI double that moved the score to 2-1. Neither team scored in the second and third innings.
After UAB couldn't get anyone home in the top of the fourth, LA Tech took the lead with a 2 RBI single that put the Bulldogs up 3-2. After a scoreless fifth inning, UAB tied the game with a Jolie Readeaux single that brought home Tyler Armistead. After LA Tech did not get a hit in the bottom of the sixth, the game was trending in UAB's favor, or for extra innings. However, UAB went three up three down in the top of the seventh, and LA Tech hit a walk off RBI double to end the game 4-3.
Bailey Tindell (2-5) was given the pitching loss after taking over for four innings in relief. Lauren Brock and Tyler Armistead each stole a base. Armistead is 7-7 for stolen bases on the year.
UAB will play one more game against Louisiana Tech tomorrow at 1:00 p.m.
