UAB Softball Travels to Ruston to Face LA Tech

BIRMINGHAM- The UAB softball team will take on Louisiana Tech in three games this weekend. Game one in Ruston is set for a 6:00 p.m. first pitch on Friday.
"We've had a great week of preparation," said head Coach Joe Guthrie. "We look forward to this championship opportunity."
Only one half-game separates UAB and LA Tech in the current C-USA standings.
UAB LATELY
The Blazers (21-18, 9-5) are looking to regain their momentum after dropping a doubleheader to UTSA last weekend. Faith Hegh leads the team in batting average (.317) and total hits (39). Tyler Armistead leads the team with 27 runs scored and six stolen bases, and Sierra Frazier has the team lead in homeruns (5). Four Blazers have 30+ hits on the season. Sarah Cespedes (9-4) has started 18 games on the year, and has collected 59 strikeouts.
SCOUTING LA TECH
The Bulldogs (29-17, 9-6) are looking to keep climbing in the C-USA rankings, after going 2-1 in a series versus North Texas before dropping a midweek game against Ole Miss. Sierra Sacco has a team leading .424 average, and Madie Green has eight home runs on the season. Sacco leads C-USA in total hits (64). Infielder Amanda Gonzalez leads Conference USA in assists with 127. Audrey Pickett (19-5) leads LA Tech with 92 strikeouts, and a 2.34 ERA.
