BIRMINGHAM- Softball season has begun! There is so much to be excited about in Birmingham as the team continues its 2022 season. UAB welcomes 15 newcomers to the roster this year. UABSports.com will introduce you to these new Blazers and provide unique opportunities to get to know them.
Today's Meet the Blazers profile features freshman utility Ja'nae Wray.

Number: 11
Position: Utility
Height: 5-8
Hometown: Douglasville, GA.
High School: Alexander
Why did you choose UAB?
JW: "It has a great business school and an awesome softball team. It's also only two hours away from my hometown."
What is your major?
JW: Business Management with a minor in Marketing.
What/who is your favorite Musician?
JW: Kehlani
First softball memory:
JW: "When I was nine and the coach would pitch, I hit an inside the park homerun."
Describe yourself in three words:
JW: "Relentless, compassionate, competitive."
Dream travel destination:
JW: London
Favorite thing to do outside of softball:
JW: "Play basketball and other games with my friends and family, and make new memories. I also like to make art and customize shoes."
What are you looking forward to most this season?
JW: "Traveling and making memories with my teammates, and competing for a championship."
UAB will travel to Ruston, LA to face Louisiana Tech in a three-game series this weekend. First pitch of game one versus the Bulldogs is set for 6:00 p.m. on Friday.
