UAB Men's Tennis Travels to Troy, Hosts Georgia Southern this Week

BIRMINGHAM – The UAB men's tennis team looks to stretch its winning streak to four and five matches this week with a pair of matchups, heading South to face Troy on Thursday before returning to Birmingham to host Georgia Southern on Sunday.
Thursday's match, which was originally scheduled for Friday afternoon in Troy, Alabama, is set to begin at 2 p.m. Sunday's first serve is set for 1 p.m. at the Lakeshore Tennis Courts.
UAB LATELY
UAB swept its two-game home stand with wins over Chattanooga on Friday and Alabama A&M on Saturday at the Lakeshore Tennis Courts.
The Blazers moved to 6-7 on the season, rallying from a defeat in the doubles point on Friday before reeling off five singles victories to notch a 5-2 win over Chattanooga. UAB then secured the weekend sweep with a 6-1 win over Alabama A&M, opening the match with a win in doubles before again posting five singles victories.
Blazers Michal Lusovsky (7-5), Vojtech Podzemny (6-5) and Roman Postolka (6-3) lead UAB with a combined 19 singles victories. The doubles pairing of Lusovsky and Podzemny leads the Blazers with a 3-2 record, winning their trio of matches on court one.
UAB is 12-4 against the Trojans, but Troy has won the past two matchups in the series in 2015 and 2019, respectively. The Blazers are 3-0 all-time against Georgia Southern.
TROY LATELY
Troy (11-6) has won three straight matches, sweeping Southern Miss 4-0 before blanking Chattanooga 7-0 this past weekend to remain undefeated at home. Five Trojans have tallied double-digit win totals this season, highlighted by No. 3 Noah Martens (16-6).
Overall, Troy is 98-65 in singles and 34-30 in doubles this season.
GEORGIA SOUTHERN LATELY
Georgia Southern (5-5) won its most recent matchup on Sunday, earning a 6-1 victory over South Carolina State in Statesboro. The Eagles have posted victories over Gardner-Webb, College of Charleston, UNCG, Lipscomb and South Carolina State this season.
The Eagles are 3-0 in Statesboro this season, but they've struggled away from home, holding 1-5 record in true road matches.
