UAB Softball Prepares to Face #1 Oklahoma

BIRMINGHAM- UAB softball has a big test on the schedule this weekend, when the team travels to Norman, OK to take on #1 Oklahoma in two games. UAB and Oklahoma will face off Friday at 6:30 p.m. and Saturday at 1:00 p.m.
"We are excited about this opportunity to continue to compete against the game," said head coach Joe Guthrie. "Great venue in which to improve."
UAB LATELY
The Blazers (20-11, 8-1) swept Southern Miss in Hattiesburg last weekend, and have won 13 of their last 15 games. Sierra Frazier has 26 RBIs on the year, and three home runs. Lilly Crowe leads the squad in home runs (4). Six Blazers have 20+ hits on the season, and two have 30+. UAB currently holds the top spot in Conference USA rankings. 10 different true freshmen have appeared in games this season for UAB.
SCOUTING THE SOONERS
Oklahoma (30-0, 3-0) has dominated college softball this season, sporting a perfect record, and Division 1's career home run leader, Jocelyn Alo. Alo has 15 home runs on the season. She also leads the nation in on base percentage, with a .697 mark. Hope Trautwein is the Sooners' top pitching option, she leads the Big 12 in ERA (0.15) and opposing batting average (.108). Jordy Bhal is another pitching weapon for OU, she ranks second in the Big 12 in total strikeouts (127). Both pitchers have a spotless record. Trautwein has allowed only 17 hits on the season.
UAB is 1-8 all time versus OU. The Blazers last defeated the Sooners in 2003, 6-5.
