BIRMINGHAM – The UAB baseball team fell 6-3 to Middle Tennessee on Saturday afternoon at Young Memorial Field.

After Middle Tennessee scored the game's first four runs, the Blazers stormed back to trim their deficit to 4-3 with two runs in the third and another run in the sixth. Darryl Buggs started the UAB rally in the third with a one-out single before John Marc Mullins was hit by a pitch to put two runners on. Matthew Golda then smacked his second of two doubles to bring home Buggs, making it a 4-1 ballgame.

Josh Sears then notched his team-high 27^th RBI of the season with a sacrifice fly to right field, pulling the Blazers within two after the first three frames.

Christian Hall helped UAB cut its deficit to a single run in the sixth, leading off the bottom half with a double to left field. Hall moved up 90 feet via a Caleb Floyd groundout to second base before Brandon Willoughby delivered a sacrifice fly to center field, bringing home Hall to make it 4-3 at Young Memorial Field.

The Blue Raiders (10-12, 3-2 C-USA) would register two insurance runs in the eighth, plating two with two outs to extend their lead to 6-3. UAB would threaten in the bottom half of the eighth, loading the bases behind a double from Sears, a walk from Hall and a two-out single from Willoughby. Middle Tennessee's Trent Seibert, however, would escape the frame unscathed when he got Joseph Kiel to fly out to left field.

Middle Tennessee's Jaden Hamm would nail down his first save of the season in the ninth to seal the win and the series for the Blue Raiders.

JC Sewell delivered 4.1 strong innings for the Blazers in relief, allowing only one earned run with a pair of strikeouts out of the bullpen. Middle Tennessee's Eriq Swan earned the win, while Tyler O'Clair was handed his first loss of the season despite allowing only one earned run on the afternoon.

UAB (14-7, 2-3 C-USA) and the Middle Tennessee will conclude this weekend's series on Sunday at Young Memorial Field. First pitch is set for 1 p.m.
