BIRMINGHAM β Senior Jackson Reynolds tallied a career high nine strikeouts, but the UAB baseball team fell 1-0 to Middle Tennessee on Friday night in the series opener at Young Memorial Field.

Reynolds threw seven innings and allowed just four hits and two walks, but Middle Tennessee saw their starting pitcher Zach Keenan have a career night with 11 strikeouts and allowed two hits in seven innings of work.

The Middle Tennessee run came in the top of the third inning on an RBI groundout by Jacob Williams, which scored Brett Coker. Coker led off the inning with a single, then stole second and advanced to third on a wild pitch for the only run of the game.

The Blue Raiders out-hit the Blazers 5-2 and Middle Tennessee tallied 14 total strikeouts in the contest as relief pitcher Peyton Wigginton pitched the final two innings and earned the save.
