UAB Softball Travels to Hattiesburg to Face Southern Miss

BIRMINGHAM- Blazer softball will be on the road this weekend, when it takes on Southern Miss in a three-game series at the USM Softball Complex in Hattiesburg, MS. UAB is 39-31 all time versus Southern Miss. UAB and Southern Miss will play at 6:00 p.m. on Friday, 1:00 p.m. Saturday, and 1:00 p.m. Sunday.
"We are looking forward to improving in 'must-have' moments. This weekend is a great opportunity to do that," said head coach Joe Guthrie.
UAB LATELY
The Blazers (17-11, 5-1) are coming off an 8-1 home loss versus #4 Alabama. Lilly Crowe leads UAB in home runs with four, Bella Wiggins has the team's top batting average with .366, and Faith Hegh has 28 total hits on the season. Sierra Frazier has a .513 slugging percentage and is tied with Crowe for the most RBIs for UAB, with 20. Lindsey Smith leads Conference USA in assists (94). Conference USA opponents have struggled against UAB's offense, with an ERA of 7.93. The Blazers are tied for the top spot in the West Division with North Texas.
SCOUTING SOUTHERN MISS
The Golden Eagles (18-12, 1-5) are coming off a 1-2 series versus MTSU. Destini Brown, Tata Davis, and Jana Lee, all hold batting averages above .300. Brown leads USM in home runs, while Davis leads Southern Miss in hits with 37. Morgan Leinstock (11-5) is Southern Miss's top pitcher; she has a 2.30 ERA and 107 strikeouts on the season.
