BIRMINGHAM- Softball season has begun! There is so much to be excited about in Birmingham as the team continues its 2022 season. UAB welcomes 15 newcomers to the roster this year. UABSports.com will introduce you to these new Blazers and provide unique opportunities to get to know them.
Today's Meet the Blazers profile features junior pitcher Makenna Pierce.

Position: Pitcher
Height: 5-8
Hometown: Daphne, AL.
High School: Daphne
Why did you choose UAB?
MP: "I chose UAB because I felt that the coaching staff and team would help me grow not only as a softball player on the field, but as a person off the field."
What is your major?
MP: General Studies with a double minor in Management and Marketing.
What is your favorite Musician?
MP: Taylor Swift
First softball memory:
MP: "Learning to play catch in the backyard with my Dad when I was five years old."
Describe yourself in three words:
MP: Intelligent, Versatile, Creative.
Dream travel destination:
MP: "A trip across the Scottish Highlands and Edinburgh."
Favorite thing to do outside of softball:
MP: "I love to grab a good book, make a cup of coffee, and read for hours."
What are you looking forward to most this season?
MP: "I am looking forward to winning lots of games and celebrating with my teammates."
UAB will take on Southern Miss in a three game series this weekend in Hattiesburg, MS.
