Blazers to Host #4 Alabama on Wednesday Night

BIRMINGHAM- UAB softball will host #4 Alabama tomorrow night at Mary Bowers Field. First pitch is set for 6:00 p.m. CT. Alabama previously defeated UAB 7-0 when the two teams faced off earlier this month in Tuscaloosa. "We just need to keep improving with each opportunity." Said Coach Joe Guthrie. "Our big moments are coming and we need to be prepared for them."
UAB is seeking its first win in program history versus Alabama.
SCOUTING ALABAMA: The Crimson Tide (24-4, 3-3 SEC) are led by pitcher Montana Fouts (13-1) who currently ranks second in the SEC in strikeouts (128). Dallis Goodnight leads the Tide with a .413 batting average, Megan Bloodworth has five home runs, Ally Shipman and Ashley Prange each have a .483 on base percentage. Alabama is coming off a 2-1 series versus #8 Kentucky. 11 players for Alabama currently have perfect fielding percentages.
UAB LATELY: The Blazers (17-10, 5-1 CUSA) are looking to keep their momentum going, after sweeping Marshall this past weekend. Lilly Crowe leads UAB with 4 home runs, Bella Wiggins has a .353 batting average, Faith Hegh has a trio of triples, in addition to leading the team with 27 total hits. Lindsey Smith leads Conference USA in assists (90). Olivia Valbak (2-3) has 43 strikeouts on the year, and spends time at short stop. Six Blazers currently have 20+ hits. Since falling to Alabama earlier this month, UAB is 10-1 in its last 11 games.
