BIRMINGHAM- Softball season has begun! There is so much to be excited about in Birmingham as the team continues its 2022 season. UAB welcomes 15 newcomers to the roster this year. UABSports.com will introduce you to these new Blazers and provide unique opportunities to get to know them.
Today's Meet the Blazers profile features freshman infielder Lindsey Smith.

Hometown: Hayden, AL.
High School: Hayden
Why did you choose UAB?
LS: "It's close to home and I get to continue playing softball while getting a college education."
What is your major?
LS: Undeclared
What is your favorite Musician?
LS: Harry Styles
First softball memory:
LS: "Getting dirt thrown in my eyes by a little boy on my ragball team at my first practice ever!"
Describe yourself in three words:
LS: Independent, Determined, Reliable
Dream travel destination:
LS: London, England
Favorite thing to do outside of softball:
LS: "Coffee shop trips and playing with my dog."
What are you looking forward to most this season?
LS: "Traveling and making memories with my teammates."
Friday's game is Youth Jersey Friday, where fans aged 17 and under will receive free admission with a school or club jersey. Saturday's game is Signature Saturday, there will be a postgame autograph session for fans. Sunday's game is a part of Sunday Funday, where fans 17 and under get in free with the purchase of an adult ticket. Fans in the sixth grade and under can run the bases after the final game. The entire weekend is Military and First Responder's Weekend, where fans can receive $2 tickets with a Military or First Responder's ID.
Softball season tickets are available by purchasing the 2021-22 Gold Card for $65 here. The 2021-22 Gold Card will get you access to all home events for Women's Soccer, Men's Soccer, Volleyball, Women's Basketball, Softball, and Baseball (Regions Field & Young Memorial). This card is not valid for Conference USA or NCAA Championship events.
