BIRMINGHAM – The UAB women's tennis team got back on the winning track Tuesday afternoon after a 6-1 victory over North Alabama at George Ward Park.
It took only 22 minutes for the Blazers (7-4) to win the doubles point, with the teams of Sydney Clarke / Maggie White and Annalisa Smith / Alexandra da Silva each with a 6-0 victories on Courts 1 and 2, respectively.
UAB got straight sets wins from Adela Wasserbauerova (6-3, 7-6 on Court 1), Smith (6-2, 6-0 on Court 5) and da Silva (6-1, 7-5 on Court 6). Additionally, Clarke was a 6-4, 1-6, 10-3 winner on Court 2 and Enya Ratkic won 5-7, 6-2, 10-7 on Court 5.
Up next, UAB plays its third straight in-state opponent in Alabama A&M on March 3. The match, at George Ward Park, begins at 2 p.m.
