Softball Travels to Tuscaloosa to Take on #2 Alabama

BIRMINGHAM- The UAB softball team is heading to Tuscaloosa tomorrow to take on No. 2 Alabama at Rhoads Stadium. First pitch is slated for 6 p.m. CT.
"We are excited about another opportunity to improve our ball club." Said Head Coach Joe Guthrie. "It's a great week to get better."
The Blazers (7-8) will be attempting to get their first victory in program history versus the Crimson Tide. This is the first of two contests between UAB and Alabama, with the second one scheduled for March 23 at Mary Bowers Field.
UAB is coming off a successful weekend at the Blazer Invite, securing victories versus IUPUI and Austin Peay. Tyler Armistead currently leads the Blazers in batting average, with a .395 mark. Lilly Crowe has three home runs on the season. Jolie Readeaux has been steady presence at first base, with 103 putouts and .972 fielding percentage.
The Crimson Tide (15-0) are lead by senior pitcher Montana Fouts, (6-0) who has been named SEC Pitcher of the Week two weeks in a row. Ashley Prange leads Bama with a .521 on base percentage, while Ally Shipman and Megan Bloodworth have four home runs each. Alabama will be looking to maintain their undefeated record, with their last victory being a 8-0 win versus No. 20 Louisiana in five innings. Alabama leads the SEC in ERA with 0.90, allowing the fewest runs (13) and earned runs (12).
Alabama and UAB both have six players that currently have 10+ hits on the season.
