UAB Baseball Bounces Back in Comeback Win at Southeastern

HAMMOND, La. — The UAB baseball team bounced back after its first loss of the season with a 6-4 victory over Southeastern on Saturday afternoon. The Blazers move to 5-1 on the season.

Tyler O'Clair got the start, tossing 4.0 innings allowing two hits, three runs, two earned runs and three strikeouts. Brady Greene (1-0, 0.00) picked up the win after coming into the game in the sixth inning and tossing 1.2 scoreless innings with two strikeouts. Dalton Skinner earned his first collegiate save while recording two strikeouts.

At the plate, Josh Sear (2-for-5) and Caleb Floyd (3-for-4) each recorded two RBIs. As a team, UAB tallied 12 hits with four Blazers having a multi-hit game.

Southeastern (3-3) got on the board early in the first inning off an error for the 1-0 advantage.

In the third, the Blazers put their first run across on a Matthew Golda single that scored Darryl Buggs from second to tie the game 1-1.

Brandon Willoughby led off the fifth with a walk and eventually scored on a wild pitch. Buggs came around to score on a throwing error for the first UAB lead of the game at 3-1.

The Lions responded in the bottom half of the inning to tie the game at three runs each.

In the seventh, Josh Sears sent a double down the left field line to drive in John Marc Mullins from second. Caleb Floyd sent the second double of the inning to the center field wall to bring in two runs to double to score at 6-3.

Southeastern brought in a run in the eighth in a Rhett Rosevear RBI single for the eventual final score of 6-4.
