UAB Baseball Travels to Southeastern for Weekend Series

BIRMINGHAM — The UAB baseball team travels to Hammond, La. for the first road trip of the season this Friday through Sunday at Pat Kenelly Diamond at Alumni Field.
The Blazers and the Lions meet for a 6 p.m. first pitch on Friday and Saturday at 2 p.m. The series concludes on Sunday at 1 p.m. All games will be streamed on ESPN+.
PITCHING PROBABLES
Friday: RHP Jackson Reynolds (0-0, 0.00 ERA) vs. RHP Will Kinzeler (1-0, 0.00 ERA)
Saturday: RHP Tyler O'Clair (1-0, 1.80 ERA) vs. RHP Hayden Robb (0-0, 5.40 ERA)
Sunday: RHP Brooks Walton (1-0, 1.80 ERA) vs. RHP Hunter O'Toole (0-1, 12.60 ERA)
UAB (4-0) VS. SOUTHEASTERN (2-2)
The UAB vs. Southeastern series is tied at one game each. The last meeting between the two schools came on March 9, 1997 which UAB won, 11-6 at the Blue Gray Classic in Montgomery.
THE LAST TIME OUT
UAB opened the 2022 season with a four-game sweep of Northwestern at Young Memorial Field. It marks the first time that the Blazers have opened 4-0 since 2015. The Green and Gold were one of 13 teams in the nation to open the season with four wins.
Christian Hall led the Blazers' offense with a .600 (6-for-10) batting average with one double, two triples, one home run, six RBI, 1.400 slugging percentage and a .615 on-base percentage. Hall ranks second nationally in triples (2) and fifth nationally in slugging percentage (1.400).
Outfielder Caleb Floyd leads the nation with four stolen bases on the season. Floyd had a career-high thee swipes in the series finale on Sunday. The Birmingham native is second on the team with a .438 batting average and leads the team with seven hits.
SCOUTING SOUTHEASTERN
Southeastern posted a 2-1 record on Opening Weekend versus SIUE. The Lions traveled to Louisiana for a mid-week matchup on Tuesday night in Lafayette, La. which resulted in a 6-5 victory for Louisiana in extra innings. Overall, Southeastern sits at 2-2 in 2022.
Preston Faulkner leads the team with a .365 batting average with four hits, one double and one RBI. Faulkner also leads the team with three walks. On the mound, Will Kinzeler leads the Lion rotation after posting the first win of the season on Friday. Kinzeler tossed 6.0 innings, allowing two hits with four strikeouts and four walks.

UAB makes the trip down to Auburn for a midweek match up with the Tigers on Wednesday, March 2. First pitch is scheduled for 6 p.m. at Plainsman Park. Following the trip to Auburn, the Blazers host Alabama A&M for a three-game series at Young Memorial Field on March 4-6.
