Track & Field Begins 2022 Season at BSC Icebreaker

BIRMINGHAM – The UAB Track Team enters the 2022-23 season at the BSC Panther Indoor Icebreaker, hosted by Birmingham Southern College.
The first event begins at 9:00 a.m. at the Birmingham CrossPlex.

"We are looking forward to competing again," said head coach Kurt Thomas. "The fall is great for training, but we are itching to step to the starting line, into the ring, on the runway and compete. This meet is a great ice breaker to break the monotony of training and see where we are after Fall training. It's a great time to rehearse warmup routines, execution of events and learn from them."
Last season at the BSC Icebreaker, the Blazers closed out winning three events. Anna Massa took home the pole vault title with a height of 4.00m. Joining Massa was Kat Duren, who held bragging rights in the 60m hurdles with a time of 8.59. Kaylie Wright rounded out the winners' circle, taking a first-place finish in long jump with a distance of 5.64m.
The Icebreaker will serve as the only indoor meet that UAB will participate in for the month December. The Blazers return to action in January with the Blazer and Vulcan Invite on January 13 and 14, 2023.
