BIRMINGHAM – The UAB women's basketball team finished the 2021 Fall Semester with a cumulative GPA of 3.5.
Of the 16 scholarship student-athletes, 14 had a GPA over 3.0, 11 were over a 3.5 and two had a perfect 4.0.
No stranger to academic success, the women's basketball program has won the Conference USA Academic Excellence Award three of the past four years. The award is given to the team in each conference-sponsored sport with the highest GPA for the academic year.
"We are extremely proud of how the team consistently performs at a high level in the classroom," said head coach Randy Norton. "Our mission is to pursue excellence in the classroom, on the court, in the community and in our personal lives and this group certainly does this every day."
UAB (8-5, 1-1 C-USA) plays its first Conference USA games this week beginning with North Texas on Jan. 6 and Rice on Jan. 8.
