STUDENT-ATHLETE ADVISORY COMMITTEE (SAAC)
What is it? The Student-Athlete Advisory Committee at UAB serves as a vital organization that represents and advocates for the interests and well-being of student-athletes, fostering a collaborative environment to enhance their overall experience, both athletically and academically, while promoting leadership, community engagement, and personal development within the university and beyond.
Mission: The mission of the UAB Student-Athlete Advisory Committee is to build a strong, inclusive community among student-athletes, advocating for their well-being and development, and representing UAB with integrity and pride. We are dedicated to enhancing the student-athlete experience through leadership, service, and collaboration, ensuring our voices contribute positively to the university and beyond.
SAAC Member Responsibilities Include:
- Engage in communication between athletics administration and student-athletes
- Promote a positive student-athlete image on campus
- Support other student-athletes in their competitions
- Disseminate information to team members for all sports
- Provide feedback and insight into athletics department issues
- Generate a student-athlete voice within the campus athletics department
- Serve as leaders within the athletic department
- Grow as individuals through career and personal development opportunities
- Organize and participate in community service efforts
