BIRMINGHAM- UAB Track and Field had a good showing today at the seventh annual Vulcan Invitational. Shauntia Landrum set a PR in the triple jump, Lisa Petkov placed first in the 500m dash, and several other Blazers competed in various events.

Coach Kurt Thomas said, "We did the bulk of our competing yesterday. But we did have some girls come out today and do really well. Tia had a big PR in the triple jump today. The vaulters got some good jumps in and the sprinters in hurdlers got some extra work in the 60 m and 60 m hurdle races. Not a bad turn around after a good day yesterday. We shook the rust off and will get back to work next week to keep our season going. It was a good opening weekend for us."

UAB will compete next week in the Samford Multi on Thursday January 20, and Friday the 21^st in the Samford Invite.
