BIRMINGHAM – Under the direction of first year head coach Kari Bellville, the UAB women's golf team is set to open the 2021-22 season this weekend, Sept. 4-6, at the USA Intercollegiate hosted by South Alabama in Mobile.

The field also includes Arkansas State, Georgia State, Houston Baptist, Lamar, Little Rock, Memphis, Middle Tennessee, Sam Houston, South Alabama, South Florida, Southern Miss, ULM, UT Arlington, UTEP, Troy and WKU.
Bellville's lineup consists of sophomore Karlee Allen, her sister and true freshman Erika Allen, and sophomores Emilia Smith, Marilyn Steed and Rose Baral. Junior Caroline Waldrop will be playing as an individual.
"I am looking forward to starting our season in Mobile," said Bellville. "As a team, we having playing experience on this course from older players and younger players. There has been great excitement all week and we're ready to compete."
The Blazers opened last season in Mobile with a fourth place finish, and will look to improve upon that this weekend.
Smith is the team's top returning starter after posting the third lowest stroke average last year as a true freshman. She notched an 8th place finish on this course last year in her first collegiate event.
The three day event, beginning Saturday, features 18 holes per day. The Blazers tee off at 8 a.m. and are paired with Southern Miss and Georgia State.
