UAB and Tulane Clash in the Big Easy on Saturday Night

BIRMINGHAM – The UAB football team will play its seventh consecutive road game this Saturday night when the Blazers head to New Orleans for a non-conference game at Tulane. Kickoff is scheduled for 7 p.m. on ESPN+.
UAB (2-1, 1-0 C-USA) is coming off a resounding 40-6 victory over North Texas last weekend. Tulane (1-2, 0-0 AAC) suffered a 61-21 loss at Ole Miss last time out, but will be returning to New Orleans for the first time since Hurricane Ida to play its home opener.

WHAT TO WATCH FOR:
- Tight end Gerrit Prince is the reigning Conference USA Player of the Week for his efforts at North Texas. Prince had three catches for a career-best 136 yards and two touchdowns. It was the third multi-touchdown game of his career.
- Prince is leading the nation with an average of 29.14 yards per catch. Overall, he has seven receptions for 204 yards and three touchdowns. UAB is the only team in the nation to have two players rank top five nationally in this category as Trea Shropshire is fifth with an average of 27.50 YPC.
- Junior quarterback Dylan Hopkins is also coming off the best game of his career. Despite only throwing the ball seven times, Hopkins completed six passes for a career-high 202 yards and three touchdowns at North Texas.
- UAB's defense has tallied seven scoreless quarters this season and will face a high-powered Tulane offense that is averaging 428.3 yards per game.
- The Blazers had a dominating defense performance against North Texas, holding the Mean Green to just 220 yards while tallying 6.0 TFL, 3.0 sacks and an interception. Will Boler and Kristopher Moll led the charge with nine and seven tackles, respectively.
- UAB ended last season with three straight road games and Saturday marks its fourth straight to open the 2021 season, making it seven straight games on the road for the Blazers.

- Tulane has spent the last month living in Birmingham due to Hurricane Ida and will be playing its first game in New Orleans this weekend. The Green Wave was supposed to host Oklahoma and Morgan State to open the season, but the Oklahoma game was moved to Norman, and the Morgan State game was played at Legion Field.
- Tulane boasts an offense that ranks 19th nationally at 41.7 points per game. The Green Wave have won their last four non-conference games at Yulman Stadium.
- Quarterback Michael Pratt leads the Green Wave offense and has thrown for 586 yards, seven touchdowns and zero interceptions this season.
