UAB Receives ITA All-Academic Team Award, Eight Players Named ITA Scholar-Athlete

TEMPE, Ariz. – The Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) announced its 2021 Scholar-Athletes and All-Academic Teams on Monday.
UAB placed eight players on the Scholar-Athletes list – Megan Bertrands, Sydney Clarke, Sonia Grzywocz, Jana Hecking, Dominika Hrabalova, Annalisa Smith, Adela Wasserbauerova and Maggie White.
As a team, UAB boasts a team cumulative GPA of 3.78 for the 2020-21 academic year, which earns them a position on the ITA All-Academic Team.
To be named an ITA Scholar-Athlete, one must meet the following requirements:

To be named an ITA Scholar-Athlete, one must meet the following requirements:
- have a grade point average of at least 3.5 (on a 4.00 scale) for the current academic year
- be listed on the institutional eligibility form
- have a team grade point average of 3.2 or above (on a 4.00 scale),
- all student-athletes included should be listed on the institutional eligibility form, and
- all varsity letter winners should be factored into the cumulative team GPA for the current academic year
