UAB Softball Earns Five All-Conference Selections

BIRMINGHAM – The UAB softball team was well represented on Tuesday when Conference USA released its postseason awards, with five Blazers earning All-Conference Honors.
Sierra Frazier, Jenna Olszewski, Jolie Readeaux and Amy Woodham earned All-Conference First Team honors, while Analyse Petree was named to the All-Conference Second Team.
The four first team selections are the most in program history, and it is only the second time that UAB has had five All-Conference honors in a season. UAB is tied with North Texas for the second-most all-conference selections in the league, behind WKU (6).
"We are proud of what our players have accomplished during the regular season," head coach Joe Guthrie said.
"We are excited for the opportunity to finish during the postseason. Congrats to each of them for recognition on their hard work. Credit to our staff for their development of players as well."
Amy Woodham, Pitcher - All-Conference First Team
Woodham has been the Blazers' leader in the circle this season, owning a 1.10 ERA in C-USA play, the fourth lowest of any pitcher in the league, allowing just seven earned runs in 44.2 innings pitched.
On the season, she has pitched a team-high 92 innings with 84 strikeouts.
The Slocomb, Ala. native recorded a career-high 10 strikeouts in UAB's 3-1 victory over Louisiana Tech on April 17, allowing no earned runs.
In UAB's matchup against then-No.9 Louisiana on Feb. 20, Woodham threw a gem, allowing just two hits and one run.
Woodham (9-8) finished the regular season with a 2.28 ERA and seven straight victories.
Sierra Frazier, Catcher - All-Conference First Team
Frazier has been UAB's offensive leader this season, ranking first on the team in batting average (.384), slugging (.710), home runs (9), runs scored (31), total bases (88) and walks (30).
She owns the top on-base and fielding percentages in Conference USA and has reached base in 30 straight games.
In C-USA play, Frazier holds the top slugging (.865) and on-base percentages (.577) and has drawn the most walks (17) in the league. She also had the second-highest batting average (.423).
On Monday, the Corona, Calif. Native was also the only Blazer named to the C-USA All-Academic Team.
This is the second post-season award of Frazier's career. She was named to the C-USA All Second Team as a freshman in 2019.
Jenna Olszewski, Outfield - All-Conference First Team
Olszewski has been a consistent force at the plate this season for the Green and Gold, leading the Blazers with 45 hits, 16 multi-hit games, four triples and eight stolen bases.
The centerfielder is also second on the team with 26 RBIs, 76 total bases and third with 10 doubles and a .320 batting average.
Olszewski has hit three home runs this season, all against C-USA opponents, one at WKU and two versus Louisiana Tech.
She has hit the second-most triples in the conference and ranks in the top-10 in the league in doubles, hits and total bases.
Jolie Readeaux, Outfield - All-Conference First Team
Readeaux has been a spark in conference play for the Blazers, batting .371 against C-USA opponents.
On the season, Readeaux is batting .307 with 31 hits, 15 RBIs, 40 total bases, has hit two home run and owns a perfect fielding percentage.
Her first home run of the season was a three-run shot against Louisiana Tech on April 18 that helped the Blazers secure a come-from-behind 5-1 victory over the Lady Techsters.
Analyse Petree, Infield - All-Conference Second Team
Petree has been the Blazers' go-to cleanup hitter this season.
She ranks first on the team with 33 RBIs and has the second-highest slugging percentage (.519) and home runs (7). She has 18 RBIs in C-USA play, the most of any player in the conference.
In UAB's four-game series against UTSA on April 23-25, the senior tallied a team-high 10 RBIs, earning the C- USA Hitter on the Week honor on April 26, the first weekly award of her career. This season she has recorded seven multi-RBI games, including three four-RBI outings.
The Apopka, Fla. native currently ranks in the top-10 in UAB career history in doubles (36), home runs (25), total bases (274) and RBIs (88)
The Blazers will return to the field on Thursday May 13, at 4:30 p.m. in their first game of the C-USA Championship at Western Kentucky.
