UAB Men’s Golf Places 11th at Collegiate Invitational

BIRMINGHAM – The UAB men's golf team placed 11th at the Collegiate Invitational at the Country Club of Birmingham.
The Blazers dropped five spots on the final day of competition, but finished ahead of No. 29 Alabama, No. 39 Mississippi State and Kentucky.
Junior Nick Robillard (70-71-77 = 218, +5) finished in a tie for 23rd to lead the Blazers. Freshman Khavish Varadan (76-69-74 = 219, +6) finished one stroke behind Robillard and tied for 25th.
Senior William Walker III (73-71-79 = 223, +10) finished tied for 43rd, while Ethan Hagood (77-76-73 = 226, +13) shot UAB's low round on Wednesday and moved up 10 spots, finishing tied for 60th. Drew Mathers (77-75-75 = 227, +14) rounded out UAB's lineup in a tie for 68th.
Playing individually, John Snoddy (74-75-76 = 225, +12) tied for 55th, while John Racciatti (76-82-69 = 227, +68) tied for 68th.
No. 4 Clemson won the tournament at +2, and was followed by No. 19 Tennessee (+8), No. 22 North Florida (+11), No. 10 Vanderbilt (+17) and No. 9 Auburn (+19). Individually, Tennessee's Bryce Lewis (-6) won the title by one stroke over Clemson's Jacob Bridgeman.
The Blazers now turn their attention to the Conference USA Championship in Texarkana, Ark., which is set to be played April 26-29 at Texarkana Country Club.
