Robillard Leads UAB in Opening Round of Collegiate Invitational

BIRMINGHAM – Junior Nick Robillard shot a one-under 70 and is tied for fourth place after the opening 18 holes of the Collegiate Invitational at the Country Club of Birmingham.
In a field that features eight top 25 teams and 14 teams ranked inside the top 50, the 34th-ranked Blazers (+12) find themselves tied for 12th after the first round with No. 29 Alabama. However, UAB is just 13 strokes off the lead and just 10 strokes away from second place.
No. 22 North Florida (-1) leads after 18 holes, and is followed by No. 19 Tennessee (+2), No. 4 Clemson (+2), No. 10 Vanderbilt (+3) and No. 21 Arkansas (+4) who round out the top five.
Robillard is four shots off the individual lead and is tied with six other players at -1. Senior William Walker III finished the opening round with a one-over 73 and is currently tied for 21st.
Rounding out the team lineup was Khavish Varadan (+5, T63), Drew Mathers (+6, T70) and Ethan Hagood (+6, T70).
Playing as individuals, John Snoddy carded a three over 74 and is tied for 38th, while John Racciatti was +5 and is tied with Varadan for 63rd.
