UAB Men’s Golf Advances to C-USA Semifinal Match Play

TEXARKANA, Ark. – Led by freshman Khavish Varadan who finished as the runner up at -10, the UAB men's golf advanced to the semifinal round of match play at the 2021 Conference USA Championship at Texarkana Country Club.
The Blazers shot -11 throughout the three-day 54-hole stroke play and finished in third place. Middle Tennessee won stroke play at -14 to claim the 1-seed for match play, while North Texas (-12) finished one shot ahead of UAB as the Blazers and Mean Green will meet in the semifinals. Charlotte (-7) claimed the last spot in the semifinals.
Match play is slated to begin this afternoon due to inclement weather moving into the Texarkana area on Thursday.
Varadan (68-71-67) shot a five under 67 (-5) in the final round. For the tournament he had 14 birdies, just four bogeys and tallied 36 pars.
Junior Nick Robillard also had an excellent showing as he finished in a tie for sixth place overall. Robillard (75-69-68) had five birdies in the final round and his only bogey came on the final hole. William Walker (E) finished in a tie for 18th, while Drew Mathers tied for 31st at +3.
These four, plus John Snoddy, will represent the Blazers in match play against North Texas.
