BIRMINGHAM — The UAB baseball team fell to Alabama, 9-3, at Regions Field on Tuesday evening.

Ian Ladner and Chandler Simpson led UAB (13-28, 6-14 C-USA) at the plate, each going 3-for-4 with a run scored. Brady Greene (3-3), who went two innings, took the loss on the mound. Jake Eddington picked up his first win of the season, while Hunter Ruth earned the save.

Alabama (25-15, 8-10 SEC) scored in the first on a Zane Denton double to score William Hamiter. The Blazers tied it up in the bottom of the inning when Simpson led off with a single and advanced to third on a stolen base and a wild pitch. He was brought in on a sacrifice fly from Zack Davis to tie game at one.

In the top of the second, the Crimson Tide scored two runs to take the 3-1 lead. UAB answered with a run on a Darryl Buggs triple to bring in Ladner to cut the lead to one, 3-2.

The Crimson Tide added a run a piece in the third, fourth and sixth inning for the 6-2 advantage.

Colton Schultz led off the bottom of the sixth with a single to right. In the next at-bat, Z. Davis hit a double to bring the score to 6-3.

Alabama brought in three runs in the eighth and closed out the game by the final score of 9-3.

Fans, including Gold Card holders and students, will not be permitted to attend home baseball games played at Young Memorial Field. Attendees will be limited to the player pass list and limited premium spaces.
