Blazer Baseball Drops Pair of Games at Southern Miss

HATTIESBURG, Miss. — The UAB baseball team dropped both games of the doubleheader at Southern Miss Saturday afternoon. UAB falls to 10-19, 3-8 CUSA while Southern Miss moves to 20-9, 7-3 CUSA.
GAME ONE – UAB 1, SOUTHERN MISS 4
Riley Davis got the start in game one, throwing his second complete game of the season but picked up the loss.
Southern Miss got on the board early with two runs in the second inning.
Sophomore John Marc Mullins hit his fourth home run of the season in the fifth to cut the Golden Eagles' lead to one.
In the sixth, Southern Miss scored two unearned runs, putting them up by the final score of 4-1.
GAME TWO – UAB 2, SOUTHERN MISS 9
Southern Miss started the scoring in game two with a run in the second, three in the third and four in the fifth for the 8-0 advantage.
Caleb Floyd came in to pinch-hit in the top of the sixth and hit a shot out to left field that hit off the scoreboard to bring the score to 8-1.
The Golden Eagles added an insurance run in the bottom of the sixth.
In the top of the seventh, Ian Ladner was hit by a pitch to lead off the inning, Leo Harris came in the game to pinch-run. After advancing to second, Harris scored when Mullins reached on an error.
The series concludes tomorrow with a 1 p.m. first pitch at Pete Taylor Park. Streaming information and live stats will be available on the UAB baseball schedule page.
BASEBALL AT YOUNG MEMORIAL FIELD
Fans, including Gold Card holders and students, will not be permitted to attend home baseball games played at Young Memorial Field. Attendees will be limited to the player pass list and limited premium spaces.
Attendees will be asked to practice social distancing and wear a mask at all times per state and county ordinance.
BASEBALL AT REGIONS FIELD
Regions Field will accommodate fans, including Gold Card holders and students, with social distancing measures in place.
Fans will be asked to practice social distancing and sit in available seats. Masks are required at all times per state and county ordinance.
BASEBALL SINGLE GAME TICKETS
General admission single game tickets will be on sale for games at Regions Field and seats on site are available in groups of up to four (4) seats by clicking here.
