UAB Softball Hosts Troy For Midweek Matchup

BIRMINGHAM - For the first time in 18 days, the Blazers will take the field at Mary Bowers Field, hosting Troy for a 6 p.m. midweek tilt this Wednesday, March 31.
LAST TIMEOUT
The last time the Blazers (13-13, 0-0 C-USA) played was on March 20-21 on the road at WKU.
The Hilltoppers swept the three-game series. WKU batted .449 on the weekend, while UAB hit .299.
Sierra Frazier and Faith Hegh both had a productive series at the plate, batting .600 and .556, respectively, while Jenna Olszewski had a team-high three RBIs and hit the only Blazer homerun.
UAB's three-game series with Charlotte scheduled for this past weekend, March 27-28, was canceled with the possibility of rescheduling as a result of COVID-19 protocols and contact tracing within the 49ers program.
LAST MATCHUP VS. THE TROJANS
This will be the second matchup between UAB and Troy this season. The Blazers also faced Troy on the road at the Trojan Classic on Feb. 12 in just the second game of the season.
The Trojans were able to earn an 8-0 shutout victory over UAB in five-innings.
SCOUTING TROY
The Trojans (22-6) hold the 12-18 all-time series advantage over UAB, but the Blazers have taken two of the last three matchups.
Offensively, Troy is led by senior infielder Katie Webb who has started all every game this season. Webb is batting a team-high .375, with an on base percentage of .980.
In the circle, Leanna Johnson (12-3) has pitched a team-high 94.2 innings, striking out 157 batters.

UAB has combined for 184 hits through 26 games, the most of any C-USA squad. The Green and Gold also have the second-most RBIs (103), runs scored (118) and doubles (36).
