UAB Set for Saturday Afternoon Matchup at Charlotte

BIRMINGHAM- The UAB men's soccer team will be on the road to face Charlotte on Saturday at 1 p.m.

"Charlotte is always a well-organized and physical team," said head coach Jeff Kinney. "It is very impressive to have runs in the NCAA tournament and finish in the top of the league on a regular basis like they have. We know we will have our work cut out for us, but it will be a good test to see where we are as a team."

The Blazers (2-7-1, 0-0-1) are coming off a hard-fought matchup against Old Dominion that resulted in a 1-1 draw in double overtime last Saturday. After both teams scored in the first half, both defenses stepped up and could not find the back of the net again.Β

In their last game, the 49ers (1-2-1) took down No. 7 Kentucky 2-1. With the win, Charlotte snapped a nine-game winning streak that included games played in the fall.Β

The teams have met 18 times with Charlotte winning 11 of the matchups and four matches resulting in a tie. In the last matchup at BBVA Field in 2019, the 49ers won 3-1.
