BIRMINGHAM – Softball season is almost here! There is so much to be excited about in Birmingham as the UAB softball team opens its schedule up on Feb. 12 in Troy, Ala. The team welcomes nine newcomers to the roster for the 2021 season. UABSports.com will introduce you to these new Blazers and provide unique opportunities to get to know them.
Today's 'Meet the Blazers' profile features a junior infielder, Jolie Readeaux.

Position: Infield
Height: 5-6
Hometown: Houston, Texas
High School: Cypress Lakes
Previous School: Louisiana
What is your favorite thing about Houston?
JR: "Discovery Green."
What has been your favorite part of Birmingham so far?
JR: "Getting to meet my team."
When did you start playing softball and why?
JR: "I started at six years old because my dad played slow pitch softball."
What is your favorite softball memory?
JR: "Scoring the winning run in LSU Regionals my freshman year."
Did you play any other sports growing up?
JR: "I played basketball, volleyball and ran track."
Why do you wear the No. 22?
JR: "It was one of the only numbers available, but a new number means a new journey in my career."
Why did you choose UAB?
JR: "For the coaching staff."
Do you have any siblings? If so, what are their names and how old are they?
JR: "I have two sisters. Kioloni (33) and Monét (23).
Who is your biggest inspiration?
JR: "My parents."
Do you remember what you wanted to be when you grew up?
JR: "A forensic anthropologist."
What do you want to be now?
JR: "An FBI agent."
What are you majoring in?
JR: "Criminal justice."
Do you have a favorite quote?
JR: "The harder you work, the harder it is to surrender." - Vince Lombardi
What is your favorite TV show to binge watch?
JR: "Criminal Minds."
What do you like to do in your free time?
JR: "Sleep."
If you could have any actress play you in a movie about your life who
would it be?
JR: "Gabrielle Union."
What is your favorite meal/food?
JR: "Steak and sweet potatoes."
If you could live anywhere in the world where would you live?
JR: "Washington D.C."
What is your favorite book?
JR: "The Percy Jackson series."
What are you looking forward to most in your first softball season at UAB?
JR: "The memories that I'll make with my team, playing the sport I love."
