Men’s Tennis Overpowers Tennessee State, 6-1

BIRMINGHAM – The UAB men's tennis team bested Tennessee State, 6-1, on Wednesday afternoon at the Lakeshore Tennis Courts.
The Blazers (2-2, 0-0 C-USA) took the doubles point with wins on all three courts. Parker Bradbary and Daniel Janko were credited with a win via walkover on court three before Vojtech Podzemny and Thanos Spyropolous clinched the doubles point with a 6-4 victory over Leandros Misdrachis and Diego Britt-Alvarez on court two. Roman Postolka and Michal Lusovsky also improved their doubles record with a 7-5 win over Stefan Koruga and Maksims Kazijevs.
UAB went up 2-0 in the match with a court six singles walkover win by Giovani Pasini and increased its lead on court five as Parker Bradbary topped Alberto Gonzalez Raton, 6-1, 6-0. The Green and Gold clinched the match on court two as Lusovsky overcame Kazijevs, 6-0, 6-2.
The Blazers also claimed wins on courts three (Spyropolous def. Misdrachis, 6-1, 6-2) and one (Postolka def. Koruga, 6-4, 6-2). The Tigers (0-2, 0-0 OVC) notched their lone point on court four as Britt-Alvarez bested Podzemny, 2-6, 6-3, 10-5.
The Blazers now return to the courts on Saturday at 1 p.m. for their conference opener against Southern Miss. First serve from the Magic City is scheduled for 1 p.m.
