UAB Finishes Fourth at MEAC No. 2

BIRMINGHAM-The UAB bowling team finishes fourth at MEAC No. 2 in Raleigh, NC this weekend.
"We had a great time on the lanes this weekend," said head coach Michelle Crews. "We did not win as much as we would have liked but we are making great strides towards our ultimate goal which is the postseason."
The Blazers started the competition on Friday morning with five baker matches. UAB started the day with 919-908 win against Coppin State. The Blazers would lose the next two matches to No. 13 North Carolina A&T (1088-975) and No. 15 Delaware State (1003-850) but picked up a win against Monmouth (945-909). UAB finished the day with a bye that resulted in a pinfall count of 801.
The Blazers lost to Delaware State (1058-840), Monmouth (952-856), North Carolina A&T (1112-954) consecutively to start day two of the competition. UAB would finish the day strong as they picked up a 978-911 win against Coppin State to finish 3-5 going into the last day of competition.
On Sunday, UAB went 1-1 to finish the competition in fourth place. The MEAC committee will meet to determine who qualifies for the MEAC Championship on March 19.
Jamie Krasnigor led the way with a total pinfall of 947 to finish in 12th place and freshman Shauna Rodgers finished with a total pinfall of 913 to finish in 17thplace. Samantha Johnson (890), Elise London (884) and Katie Hurley (723) placed 19th, 20th and 23rd, respectively, to finish the Blazers in the top 25 individually.
The UAB bowling team will be back in action on March 5 for the Columbia 300 Music City Classic in Smyrna, Tenn.
