Colston Named MEAC Bowler of the Week

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. - Graduate Student Madison Colston was dubbed the MEAC Bowler of the Week following the Blazers' 9-4 fourth-place finish at the Saints Invitational last weekend. Colston averaged a 222.8 pinfall in UAB's five traditional matches in Missouri, including a 244 against No. 5 Louisiana Tech and a 240 against No. 11 Sacred Heart.
Colston anchored the Blazers en route to UAB's 1,161 pinfall against Western Illinois, a program record for pinfall in a five-game match.
The Blazers picked up four ranked wins at the tournament, defeating No. 5 Louisiana Tech, No. 10 Maryville, No. 11 Sacred Heart, and No. 16 Newman. UAB finished fourth, falling to No. 4 Nebraska in the third-place match.
Colston is the second consecutive Blazer to win the MEAC Bowler of the Week on tournament weeks, following Jordan Shipp's win just two weeks ago. Shipp broke a UAB record of her own, bowling a 299 against Quincy.
