Blazers Open Winter at Northeast Classic

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. - UAB Bowling returns to action following the winter break, kicking off the spring semester with the premier national tournament of the weekend at the Northeast Classic, hosted by Sacred Heart. Each of the top 14 teams and 20 of the top 25 teams in the NTCA December Coaches' poll will feature at the tournament
FALL RECAP
The Blazers fell out of the NTCA Coaches Poll in December following a 17-16 start to the season. UAB competed in four tournaments throughout the fall, including an 11th-place finish at Destination: Orlando, a fourth-place finish at the Bowler Southern Collegiate Classic, third place at MEAC #1, and a 12th-place finish at the Colonial Lanes Classic to wrap the fall.
TRAVEL ROSTER
Head Coach Michelle Crews will travel eight Blazers for the weekend, including: graduate students Jordan Shipp and Madison Colston; seniors Savannah Schneider and Madelynn Oliva; junior Amber Longwell; sophomores Jordan Wingerter and Regina Moreno; and freshman Anella Tillman.
Colston and Oliva were both preseason all-MEAC selections, proving the voters right throughout the fall. Colston anchored the Blazers throughout the majority of the fall. Tillman found a spot in the starting lineup consistently throughout the fall.
OPPONENT OUTLOOK
The Northeast Classic is the tournament to be at for the best DI teams, as all of the top 14 teams in the country will be in Northern Delaware. Prior UAB opponents, such as Jacksonville State, Vanderbilt, Nebraska, Louisiana Tech, Youngstown State, and Wichita State will all feature. The UAB schedule will be released Friday morning prior to play.
