UAB Baseball Positional Preview: Catchers

BIRMINGHAM — With the 2021 baseball season right around the corner, UABSports.com takes an in-depth look this year's roster. Today we are looking at the catchers.
#13 | Jake Killingsworth | Fr. | Headland, Ala. | Headland HS
The Headland, Ala. native was named as an All-State selection by the Alabama Sports Writers Association on multiple occasions. Killingsworth earned statewide recognition as the Class 5A catcher in 2018 and Class 4A designated hitter in 2019. During his junior season, Killingsworth posted a .490 average with 11 doubles and 29 RBIs.
#15 | J Paul Fullerton | Sr. | Searcy, Ark. | Wabash Valley College
Fullerton is looking for another strong year in a Blazers uniform. He was recently named to the Preseason All-Conference USA Team by the conference and Perfect Game. Behind the plate, Fullerton led the team with 107 putouts and 13 assists with a .984 fielding percentage. In addition, he threw out a conference-leading seven runners, including three against Toledo on Feb. 7, 2020. Fullerton ranked in the top-three on the team in batting average (.317), slugging percentage (.517), hits (19) and RBIs (13).
#16 | Hunter Hill | Jr. | Tuscumbia, Ala. | Bevill State CC
A transfer from Bevill State, Hill appeared in 34 games for the Bears in 2019. At the plate he connected for 18 hits, three doubles, a triple and six RBIs. Defensively, Hill fielded a perfect percentage on 133 chances.
#28 | Joseph Kiel | So. | Florence, Ala. | Lawson State CC
Kiel began his collegiate career at Lawson State Community College, where he earned a spot on the All-Tournament Team in the Alabama State Junior College Tournament. In 2019, Kiel batted .369 with 41 hits, 10 doubles and 22 RBIs. At Lawson State, Kiel played for current UAB volunteer assistant, Thomas Lowery.
BASEBALL AT YOUNG MEMORIAL FIELD
Fans, including Gold Card holders and students, will not be permitted to attend home baseball games played at Young Memorial Field. Attendees will be limited to the player pass list and limited premium spaces.
Attendees will be asked to practice social distancing and wear a mask at all times per state and county ordinance.
BASEBALL AT REGIONS FIELD
Regions Field will accommodate fans, including Gold Card holders and students, with social distancing measures in place.
Fans will be asked to practice social distancing and sit in available seats. Masks are required at all times per state and county ordinance.
BASEBALL SINGLE GAME TICKETS
General admission single game tickets will be on sale for games at Regions Field and seats on site are available in groups of up to four (4) seats by clicking here.
