Cincinnati Takes Game Three Over UAB, 8-4

BIRMINGHAM – After taking the first two games of the series, UAB Baseball (4-3) dropped game three against Cincinnati on Saturday afternoon, 8-4. The loss snaps the Blazers' brief 3-game win streak.

For the second straight game, the Bearcats jumped on the board first. After a quick two outs to start the first inning, Quinton Coats ripped a triple into the right field corner and scored on an infield single by Jack Natili to put UC up, 1-0.

The Blazers answered back in the bottom half of the inning. Alex Dupuy hit his second home run in as many days to tie the score at one apiece.

UC rallied again in the top of the second inning. The first two Bearcats were retired in order to start the inning. After three straight walks, Quinton Coats hit a grand slam over the center field wall to put Cincinnati up, 5-1.

In the bottom of the second, UAB cut into the UC lead. Austin Pierzynski hit his first career home run to score Andrew Hunt to trim the deficit to 5-3.

Neither team scored again until the top of the fifth. UC's Jack Natili's second hit of the day was a solo home run to straight away center field to add to the Cincinnati lead.

The Bearcats added two more in the top of the sixth inning. Following a leadoff single, Jackson Reardon hit his first career home run to extend UC's lead to 8-3.

The final Blazer run of the day came on Landon Beaver's second hit of the day which scored John Paul Head from first, but it was not enough as UC took game three, 8-4.

NOTES

Landon Beaver recorded his first multi-hit game of the season and the fourth of his career.
Austin Pierzynski tallied his first multi-RBI game of his career.
The Blazers have hit 10 home runs in three games this series.

The final game of the series between UAB and Cincinnati will be on Sunday at 1 p.m. on ESPN+.
