Blazers Place Fifth at ISTAP Hornet Classic to Wrap Up Fall Season

MONTGOMERY, Ala. β The UAB bowling team closed out the fall slate of its schedule at the ISTAP Hornet Classic in Montgomery, Ala. over the weekend. The Blazers finished with a record of 4-8 to place fifth overall.

The first day saw five baker games. UAB opened up with a 918-823 win over Southern. The Green and Gold saw four close games to end the day, but fell to Emmanuel (957-94), Alabama A&M (780-761), Alabama State (880-831) and Tusculum (1003-957).

Saturday saw four traditional games. UAB opened up the second day against Jackson State but fell 967-952. The Blazers bounced back with two wins over Grambling State (879-758) and Jackson State (918-844). UAB ended the day with a close loss to No. 9 Louisiana Tech 967-952.

On Championship Sunday, the Blazers closed out the tournament with a win over Jackson State in a best-of-seven baker format 4-0 to place fifth overall.

Individually, UAB saw four finishes in the top-15 and all five within the top-25. Jamie Krasnigor led the way with a seventh-place finish with an average of 187.0 and two games that went over the 200-pin mark. Katie Hurley (184.6, 11th), Elise London (184.4, 12th), Jillian Hulsey (183.2, 14th) and Shauna Rodgers (162.8, 26th) rounded out the top-5 for the Blazers. London had the highest single-game pinfall for UAB with a 230 mark in the first game.

UAB finished its fall season with a record of 15-18 and a 5-3 mark in MEAC play.

The Blazers take two months off for the break and return to the lanes on Jan. 28-30, 2022 for the Pioneer Quest in Greeneville, Tenn., hosted by Tusculum.
